Join The Neighborhood for a first look of Dana Levy's video project Fatherland Archives followed by a Q&A with the artist alongside curator Roxana Fabius.

Fatherland Archives is a research-based two-channel video project. The piece includes live testimony, Levy's family’s archival documents, and fragments of manuscripts from the 9th-19th centuries from the renowned Cairo Geniza, which was discovered in the 19th century. Mixing documentary and surrealist elements, close-ups of hands handling these old documents with scenes filmed in a chaotic used bookstore in Brooklyn, NY that specializes in Middle Eastern Jewish culture.

Don't miss this poignant exploration of text, identity, and heritage told through the documents surrounding one family's journey through space and time.

Fatherland Archives is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature
