Jewish Embroidery Circle

For thousands of years, Jewish aesthetic and ritual culture has been expressed through needlework. Join us for a hands-on workshop with textile artist Ye'ela Wilschanski, where you'll learn about the rich history of Jewish embroidery in both its ceremonial and decorative contexts, and then pick up a needle and thread to follow a Hebrew alphabet stitching tutorial. Then, keep working on that pattern, or stitch away at your own project while shmoozing and sipping tea in the Sukkah. 

Embroidery materials will be provided, but please bring your own object to embroider: a yarmulke, t-shirt, bag, table cloth, challah cover, or whatever you want to make your own in a meaningful Jewish way.

First-timers and experienced embroiderers alike are welcome!
