The Neighborhood is excited to welcome you to Sukkot in The Neighborhood – a 10-day festival held in the Sukkah at Luria Academy of Brooklyn, designed by textile artist Hilla Shapira.
Throughout these 10 days, a range of communities representing the diversity of Jewish life in Brooklyn will gather in Lavender Diaspora, our community Sukkah space/immersive art installation.
We’ll be kicking things off on Friday September 29 with Welcome to The Sukkah: Shabbat Dinner and Zine Launch, to hear artists Hilla Shapira, Tom Haviv, and Jessica Tamar Deutsch present their latest work over dinner.
Then on Sunday October 1, we have Sukkot Jam, where we will engage with the symbols of the harvest holiday, relaxing in the Sukkah and experiencing the lavender dreamspace. This program is best-suited for kids ages 0-6 and their families.
