Come explore the deep historic and contemporary connection between Tarot and Jewish thought. In this exciting event, attendees will learn from and engage with historian Stav Appel about the connections between the Tarot de Marseille — the artistic ancestor of the Tarot cards we know today — and Jewish faith and oppression, uncovering hidden Jewish symbols which have shaped the contemporary Tarot we know today.
Following this interactive exploration, Stav is joined by Jewish Tarot practitioners and Kabbalists Alexandra Neuman and Mark Horn for a conversation on the form, function, and fortune found in contemporary Tarot practice, facilitated by Caro Sarkozi.
This event has a limited number of slots available for guests to have their Tarot read by Alexandra or Mark either before or after the event. To book a reading, purchase a ticket that includes a reading either before the panel (6:20 PM - 7:10 PM) or after the panel (8:30 PM - 9:00 PM) based on your availability. The Neighborhood will reach out to you with more details upon this registration type.
This event will take place as part of Sukkot in The Neighborhood – a festival of Jewish arts, culture, and spirituality taking place in an art installation Sukkah in Brooklyn. Check out the full line-up of events here.
